wasn't there a recording studio in San Remo across from the Nisseque river around the block from "dirty Marys" deli. I recall being told that a few bands did record there as well as used the river views for their album covers. e.g. Ten Years After rock n roll band had a cover with river pic on it.

Very interesting, I dont recall this and have no record (forgive the pun) in the museum archive which I was able to locate. Do you have a time frame? Do you have a copy of that picture?

I remember Foghat lived in a rented house on the Smithtown side of the Nissequogue in the mid-late 1970s. A couple of the guys from the band (Lonesome Dave Peverett and Dave MacGregor) sat in with the band Shoofly at Tuey's in Setauket a couple of times. Ah, memories of a misspent youth.

Yes, there was a recording studio on the corner of Riviera & Whittier in San Remo. It was called Soundview Recording Studio. It was open during the late 60's & early 70's & seemed to cater to Jazz muscians for the Blue Note label. It has since been converted to a house sometime during the mid 70's & still stands overlooking the river. The front facade hasn't changed though.
I've found a link to a partial list of recording sessions there.

(Search for artist "Brother Jack McDuff" or Find On Page "Kings Park")
Hope this helps out...
